For Bart De Wever, it is clear that net salaries will only increase from 2027. That is, two years later than expected due to the duration of negotiations to form a government. The tax reform can only be applied in January 2025. It will mainly benefit salaries below 3,800 euros gross per month, with a target of a difference of more than 500 euros per month between workers and non-workers by end of the legislature. This will be done by increasing the tax-exempt portion, but only for workers, excluding those who are sick or unemployed. The special social security contribution, introduced in 1994, will also be abolished.

Airplane tax

Arizona’s trajectory continues toward taxing consumers at airports. Since 2022, they must pay 2 to 10 euros in taxes for each flight. The shorter the distance, the higher the tax. Bart De Wever wants to remove this last part and impose a fixed tax: 5 euros.

Tax fraud
