Belgian businessman Pierre Salik has died

According to our information, Pierre Salik died this Friday. Businessman Carolo was 94 years old. He was known to be the heir to the Salik textile company launched in Quaregnon by his father in the 1920s, then the one who gave it its reputation in the 1970s. Salik jeans enjoyed worldwide success, writing one of the biggest Walloon success stories at the time.

But Pierre Salik also had to deal with the law several times, notably in the case of the kidnapping of the Belgian baron Édouard-Jean Empain, in that of Kid Cool or even in a corruption case where he was suspected of wanted to circumvent the Belgian tax authorities by manipulating the authorities of the Principality of Monaco. This last case was closed in 2020, according to the Echo, following a criminal settlement “of several million euros” which led to the abandonment of proceedings against the former denim specialist.
