In preparation for its inaugural season, the Vancouver Rise announced the signing of Women’s National Team star Quinn, who will join the soccer team this spring after six seasons with the Seattle Reign.
It’s very exciting for me to come home and play professional football in Canada
said Quinn, who plays the midfielder position, in a press release. With the Vancouver Rise, we hope to inspire a new generation of talented young athletes in Canada and beyond.
The Northern Super League is a new professional women’s football league. The inaugural season brings together teams from Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. Twenty-five regular season games will be played starting in April.

Quinn is someone who blazed her own trail and made history along the way
said Stephanie Labbé, sports director of Vancouver Rise, who is also a former teammate of Quinn.
Quinn, a Toronto native, was the first openly transgender and non-binary person to compete in the Olympics. The athlete spoke about it openly starting in 2020, announcing that his pronoun used was iel
and that only one name would be used.
A imposing force
Stephanie Labbé described Quinn’s recruitment as a game-changing moment
for the franchise.
I couldn’t be more excited to have someone of this quality on the field. […] I know Quinn will be an imposing force in the league.
Quinn played soccer at Duke University in North Carolina, Paris FC and Vittsjö GIK in Sweden.
Details of Vancouver’s first game have not yet been released, but fans can already put down a deposit on a season ticket.
The Vancouver Rise, partly owned by soccer legend Christine Sinclair and led by coach Anja Heiner-Møller, will play at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia.
