Vincent Boutin will run for mayor of Sherbrooke

The main person concerned published a message on his Facebook page on Wednesday morning saying that he will announce his decision soon, he who had been considering a candidacy for mayor of Sherbrooke since September.

His decision is that he will go for it, he was able to confirm The Tribune. The information was first reported by -.

The official announcement will take place on January 22.

Vincent Boutin is general manager of La Grande Table and was a municipal councilor from 2013 to 2021, the year in which he gave up his candidacy for town hall for family reasons.

In an interview given in September, he said he found that there was a lack of “unity” and “coherence” around the current municipal council table.

The race for mayor will therefore bring together, as soon as Mr. Boutin’s candidacy is made official, former minister Marie-Claude Bibeau, municipal councilor Raïs Kibonge (Sherbrooke Citoyen), the general director of the Federation of cooperatives of Estrie housing Guillaume Brien (Vision action Sherbrooke) and Vincent Boutin.

Municipal councilor Danielle Berthold must announce her intentions by the end of January. Municipal councilor Annie Godbout and citizen Mathieu Bélanger are also considering this.
