In 2024, Northern customs crossed a new threshold by recording nearly 13 billion francs in revenue, thus exceeding its initial objective of 11 billion. According to Colonel Ousmane Kane, regional director of customs in the North, this performance demonstrates positive dynamics, with a surplus of more than one billion compared to the revised objective of 12 billion.
During this announcement via Senegal International radio, Colonel Kane did not fail to congratulate the agents of the Northern regional customs directorate for their mobilization. “This is an opportunity for me to congratulate all the agents of the regional directorate. A special mention goes to the Rosso customs office, which represents the locomotive of the regional directorate,” he underlined. He added that the agents showed great commitment to achieve the objectives, with a result achieved by November 30, 2024.
One of the key factors in this performance is the deployment of the Gaïndé system at the Rosso office. This system, intended to modernize customs procedures and improve revenue collection, had a significant impact on the year’s results. In 2023, Rosso’s revenues amounted to 9 billion, but in 2024, they reached 12 billion, marking a notable increase.
Colonel Kane expressed his gratitude to the authorities who entrusted the Rosso office as a pilot office for the implementation of Gaïndé in the border areas. He also revealed that the General Directorate of Customs plans to extend the deployment of this system to other border posts, notably at Gourel Oumar Ly and the new Diama office.
