Nasrine, a 41-year-old mother, had her throat slit by her partner this Thursday, January 9, late in the afternoon in Cenon, on the right bank near Bordeaux. The tragedy occurred around 5 p.m. in an apartment located on the third floor of a recent residence located on rue Jules-Guesde, in lower Cenon.
The suspect, Youssef, aged 43, called the police himself after committing the acts. He was arrested at the scene and immediately placed in police custody at the Bordeaux central police station. “An investigation into the murder of a spouse was opened and entrusted to the territorial crime division,” indicates the prosecution.
The couple had three children, including one with autism. The victim was employed in the finance department of the City of Cenon. “She was a respectful woman, very committed, a very good mother, it’s a terrible tragedy,” confides with emotion the mayor of Cenon, Jean-François Égron.
-This Thursday, at the end of the day, parents gathered a few meters from the scene of the crime, in front of the Jules-Guesde school group, where the couple’s children were educated. The amazement can be seen on the faces and the local residents who knew Nasrine speak of her as an “extraordinary and generous mother”. The couple had lived in this chic and welcoming neighborhood for some time now. He was not talked about and never attracted attention.
No complaints filed
Youssef, alleged murderer, is unknown to the police and the justice system. Nasrine never complained and did not file any handrail with the Cenon police station or elsewhere. So what happened to cause her partner to commit the irreparable with a knife? Had he premeditated his action or did he act on impulse after an argument?
The investigation by police officers from the personal crimes unit of the territorial crime division will have to determine this. The police custody measure could extend until Saturday, before a presentation before a public prosecutor with a view to opening a judicial investigation. The alleged murderer faces life imprisonment. In France, 135 feminicides were recorded in 2024, and already four, with that of Cenon, in 2025.
