Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, received Tuesday in Rabat, Ilaria Carnevali, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Morocco.
This meeting, which brought together several officials from both parties, made it possible to examine ways to strengthen cooperation between the ministry and the United Nations Program around the issues of water and climate change, two essential areas for the Kingdom. .
Sustainable water management at the heart of discussions
On this occasion, Nizar Baraka highlighted the urgency of raising awareness among citizens and institutions about rational management of water resources. He also underlined the need to adapt agricultural activities to water availability while protecting them from pollution.
These efforts are part of a global vision of strengthening water resilience in the face of multiple climatic and environmental challenges.
Strengthening climate resilience
Discussions also focused on the development of infrastructure adapted to the consequences of climate change, such as resilient roads and green ports. The issue of flood prevention has been identified as a priority, with emphasis placed on innovative solutions to limit their impact on populations and ecosystems.

A regional study on desalination is also underway to guarantee the sustainability of water resources.
Cooperation and future prospects
This meeting also allowed the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to affirm its desire to support the ministry in facing the challenges of climate change and associated risks, with an emphasis on model zones in Morocco. such as Tensift El Haouz and Casablanca.
The two parties also expressed their commitment to strengthening their collaboration in the areas of training and scientific research, with the desire to develop innovative solutions to meet future challenges.
