Lot solidarity: local initiatives supported by Quercy Contacts and the Lot fishing federation

the essential
In the Lot department, solidarity initiatives are coming to life thanks to the commitment of local associations such as Quercy Contacts and the Lot Federation for fishing and the protection of the aquatic environment which received aid from the Banque Populaire Foundation.

In Cahors, the Quercy Contacts association has been working since 1993 to help people far from employment find a sustainable path back to work. Its unique approach, combining economic activity and social impact, is based on a sewing and marking workshop. In 2024, a turning point was taken with the opening of a new boutique-workshop, offering optimized space to train and employ more people. This large-scale project was supported by the Banque Populaire Occitane Foundation, which subsidized the development of this key store for professional integration in Lot.

The Lot fishing federation: environmental awareness

The foundation did the same with the Lot Federation for fishing and the protection of the aquatic environment. This association is distinguished by its actions to preserve local biodiversity. Through the “Poisses d’Ici” project, it offers an educational exhibition to introduce people to the fish species of the Lot and raise awareness among younger generations of environmental issues.

Essential support for local projects

In 2024, a total envelope of €285,500 was distributed by the Banque Populaire Occitane Foundation to support 43 projects. “These projects reflect our desire to take concrete action to build a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient region,” declared Christophe Bosson, president of the foundation.
