Who has never experienced traffic jams at the entrance to Pontarlier when returning from Métabief? To relieve traffic congestion, a project to develop the RN57 south of Pontarlier was the subject of a decisive agreement in 2024 between the State, the Burgundy Franche-Comté Region, the Department and the Community of Communes of Greater Pontarlier (CCGP).
21 million euros invested
The objective of this project is to “secure local services and travel in active modes, while sustainably improving traffic while preserving local residents and natural environments”specifies the Regional Directorate of Environment, Planning and Housing (DREAL). Concretely, this involves creating a second traffic lane between the place called “Les Rosiers”, located in Cluse-et-Mijoux, and the André Malraux college. The RN57 crossroads should also be improved up to the Pontarlier station roundabout. Lanes dedicated to bicycles and pedestrians are also planned.
In recent weeks, preparatory work has already begun in the town of Cluse-et-Mijoux with the demolition of five buildings and must continue in 2025. “This work will be carried out without hindering traffic”assures DREAL.
