“The exhibitions allow us to compare ourselves, at a national and international level, to other breeders, in addition to making ourselves known and selling some of our animals” notes Jean-Marie Garnier, breeder of blue mesh lynx with white flight. and member of the Swiss Lynx Club. One of his foals – or rather his pigeons – was also crowned champion on Friday by the judges, on the occasion of the 73e exhibition of Small animals from the Jura region and the 60e exhibition of the Little Animals of Ajoie, which were held Saturday and Sunday in Boncourt. “Having a medal is the carrot!” he smiled.
“We had many curious people, who asked a lot of questions.”
More than 700 pigeons on display
In total, 1409 chickens, rabbits, ducks, pheasants, geese and pigeons were exhibited to the public by 145 breeders, all in the two rooms of the multipurpose hall. These thus accommodated a pond with an aviary and a small animal park. “There were 704 pigeons, 592 rabbits and 113 poultry, all combined,” explains Ludovic Plomb, president of the organization of the exhibition. These attracted between 800 and 1000 people, particularly young parents with their children, rejoices Ajoulot, who says he is very satisfied. “We are happy, because the people of the village came. We had many curious people, who asked a lot of questions. A great way to show our passion!”
