Break between F24 and Pastef: betrayal or ingratitude?

Mamadou Mbodji, coordinator of the Senegal force platform, addressed the rupture within the F24 during the JDD on December 22. He recalled the bases of the relations between their structure and Pastef, based on common principles and commitments. Although the platform noted the abandonment of certain parties, notably Pastef, which had initially allied themselves with their cause, this does not mean that they will deviate from their objectives. On the contrary, they say they are more motivated than ever to serve Senegalese society.

According to Mamadou Mbodji, “F24 is a structure where people enter and leave freely. There are many parties that no longer respond to our invitations, and Pastef is one of them. Did they use us? No, because we were not there for them,” he said.

He then returned to the real motivations for their collaboration, emphasizing that it was based on democratic rules and values. “We worked as a platform by telling ourselves that the country needs democratic achievements, such as term limits, freedom of expression and demonstration, as well as free and transparent elections. We were linked by the general interest,” he confided.

In the same logic, the coordinator of the F24 specified: “if Pastef, as a member of the F24, comes to power, it will be because it is the Senegalese who elected it. From this point of view, we do not feel betrayed, we do not think that they owe us anything. We have done our duty and we continue to do so. »

During the broadcast, Mr. Mbodji expressed his disappointment with the evolution of their relations, which were no longer as before, when the two forces formed one. “Since the arrival of the new power, there is no longer any relationship. They no longer come to our meetings, they hardly invite us to their activities, so we are seeing this situation,” he regretted.

However, far from passing judgment, he admitted having been invited to the assizes for justice: “We were invited to the assizes. I received a summons addressed to Mamadou Mbodji, civil society. Although this came late, after the complaints of certain members of the F24, it is important to emphasize that we are not talking about betrayal or ingratitude, but simply about the facts which are there, without judgment,” clarified the coordinator of the F24 platform.

Finally, on another subject, Mamadou Mbodji spoke of the need for a systematic break that meets the needs and expectations of the Senegalese in a pragmatic and effective manner. “Ruptures are what the Senegalese expect. We see a few sketches of it, but they are getting impatient with emergencies. It is therefore essential that the authorities hear their call and speed things up,” he stressed.
