He kills his niece and commits suicide
Armed with a hunting rifle, a 76-year-old man arrived in a house located off a small path and opened fire on a 70-year-old retiree, report our colleagues from The Dispatch.
The man, who was none other than the victim's uncle, then turned the gun on himself to commit suicide.
Another man, the companion of the septuagenarian, was also in the house but did not have time to intervene. He was not targeted by the uncle either.
Alerted, the emergency services went to the scene where they could only note the deaths. Shocked, the victim's companion was taken care of and interviewed by the gendarmes, according to our colleagues.
“It looks like a crime of passion”
“She was a discreet woman who did not talk about herself […] Above all, she fought cancer with great courage. What happened is dramatic and incomprehensible.”declared Isabelle Gousmar, the mayor of Montjoire at the Hurry.
An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of this tragedy and especially the reasons which pushed the uncle to act. According to observers, “It looks like a crime of passion”even though the two victims were related.
Autopsies will be carried out at the start of the week, according to the deputy prosecutor, on duty in Toulouse.
