For this last meeting of the 2024 era, the Grenats returned to the Stade de l'Aube and ESTAC Troyes where they lost last September. A few weeks after having managed to win at Obernai then at Raon l'Etape, our team hoped to achieve the pass of three and thus cancel its ticket for the 1/16 finals of the Coupe de France.
Facing the Aube formation, Stéphane Le Mignan decided to modify his starting lineup. In goal, Alexis Mirbach was lined up again while Maxime Colin, Sadibou Sané, Alpha Touré and Joel Asoro found a starting place.
The kick-off had barely been given when Gauthier Hein placed the first banner. Using his left foot, number 7 Metz forced Zacharie Boucher to relax perfectly to avoid the danger (5th). ESTAC was quick to react. Following a corner, Renaud Ripart rose higher than everyone to block the trajectory of a header (20°).
In all the good moves, Renaud Ripart then opened the scoring. Launched in depth, he played against Sadibou Sané and Alexis Mirbach could only see the damage (1-0, 27°). Returning from the locker room, Abdoulaye Kanté's long shot hit the target (53°) and Gauthier Hein was not successful either (57°).
Following a nice collective movement, the Aubois doubled the lead via Cyriaque Irié (2-0, 70°). A few moments later, Gauthier Hein tried to give his team hope with a free kick. In vain (79°). Finally, ESTAC managed to drive home the point at the end of the match when Renaud Ripart, a surface fox, scored twice (3-0, 85°).
Jostled and broken down offensively, the Grenats lost on the Troyes pitch (3-0) and therefore left the Coupe de France in the 32nd final. We will have to react in 2025, in the championship, with the reception of Pau FC on Saturday January 4.
