The Caluirard executive seems to have chosen its new leader! Ten days after the forced departure of Philippe Cochet, LR mayor of the commune since 2008 and sentenced on December 11 to five years of ineligibility, with provisional execution and three years of imprisonment including one year closed for embezzlement of public funds, the majority municipal council issued a press release this Friday, December 20 at the beginning of the afternoon to announce its support for Bastien Joint, until then municipal councilor in charge of the Urban Farm project.
« Ua strong and safe city that will remain so”
First, the executive “thanks Philippe Cochet for making Caluire-et-Cuire, what it is today, such a pleasant city to live in, a strong and safe city which will remain so”. The elected officials also assure “in responsibility, determined, united and united, around Bastien Joint, we will continue to work in the service of the Caluirards”. And to add: “A new central kitchen soon to be supplied by the urban farm, a regional-scale skatepark, the new educational and leisure center in Vernay with the new Jules-Verne school group, Caluire Jeunes and the music school , the rehabilitation of the Montessuy fort and the future cinema, the new general education high school in the Region, all very beautiful projects that we will be keen to bring to fruition for our city and its inhabitants. »

The majority group Ensemble Naturally concludes: “Faced with national and metropolitan uncertainty, the Caluirards know that they can have confidence in our collective action at their service so that Caluire-et-Cuire remains a warm and friendly town, a city like no other! » The extraordinary municipal council which should confirm this election should be held at the beginning of January.
For the record, this is not the first time that Bastien Joint has succeeded Philippe Cochet. In 2022, then in 2024, the thirty-year-old stood in the legislative elections in the 5e constituency, but without success.
