In fact, from December 4 to 14, 10,000 coloring books were made available to children free of charge, in nearly 190 businesses in the city center. “It was important for us to put the merchants in a position to donate, during this Christmas period, and it was precious for them to see the children’s eyes light up when they received their notebooks,” explains Karelle Hermenier, assistant to the mayor in charge of commercial dynamics.

Three winners among a hundred participants

“This year, we had space constraints and could not give as much room to the chalets as in previous years. We made the bet to favor a festive and magical space for children and to set up a route between Place de la Liberté and Place Wilson, which would induce a logic of circulation and would benefit merchants in the city center, explains Fortuné Pellicano, deputy mayor of Brest in charge of events. It was thus, at Place Wilson, that the Compagnie Créature gave its show “Les Iréels”, which was to serve as an inspiration to young designers. Around a hundred drawings were received by Santa Claus and the artistic director of the Company, who had the very difficult task of choosing the winners, in the 4-6 year old, 7-10 year old and 11-14 year old categories. They are respectively Gabin (5 years old), Inès (10 years old) and Espérance (13 years old), who were able to convince our prestigious jury and received their prizes from the hands of Santa Claus.
