In Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé, La Taverne de St-Pierre, place de l’Étoile, closed its doors last September. Thanks to Antony and Inès Chaleil, aged 29 and 28 respectively, this restaurant will reopen next January.
“We love the village and already have friends there”
The young couple is already known in the region since they managed 15, in the lower town of Angles-sur-l’Anglin. Since the end of their lease in this establishment in September 2023, the duo, who have worked together in catering for around ten years, have been looking for a business to take over. From Portugal, the young woman’s country of origin, where they had retreated with their son, Inès and Antony monitored the offers in Vienne.
And it was while sharing a meal at La Taverne de St-Pierre last August that they made their decision when this deal found itself on the market some time later. “We love the village, its landscapes, its community life and already have friends there, the managers of the bakery in particular, Antony specifies. I learned to better feel the charm of the village during my pastry course with William, the baker. »
“We will open on Tuesday January 14 with the possibility of 40 seats inside and 40 on the terrace, after having completely revised the decor of the rooms, the furniture, the crockery and equipping the kitchen with new equipment”, continues the merchant.
“Traditional and family cuisine”
He and Inès decided to choose warm colors, subdued, colorful lights for a warm atmosphere. The colored crockery and modern glasses match the simple and comfortable furniture. “Everything will be in harmony, in accordance with our tastes. It’s very pleasant to freely shape our workspace, so that it resembles us. »
About the future map, Antony reveals: “It will change every three months: traditional, French, family cuisine, much more classic than what we offered at the 15th. At lunchtime, we will offer a working meal with starter, main course, dessert plus wine or coffee. In the evening, the three-course formula will be prepared with more elaborate, refined cuisine. Local producers will be favored and the menu will clearly mention them. Portuguese cuisine, which we tested in Angles, will make a few appearances. We will also have a catering service. »
User-friendliness
The name of the establishment, open all year round, has already been determined: it will be La Table Mailloise, “to clearly show our desire to anchor it in the life of the village, with conviviality, by developing the welcome of groups, local associations, during the festive events of Saint-Pierre, support Antony. And we will welcome musicians and winegrowers who will taste their production. »
The young couple has less than a month left to complete the arrangement, decide on the list of suppliers… Arthur’s custody has already been settled. So see you on January 14.
