A man was shot Thursday morning in Échirolles, in the suburbs of Grenoble, and his prognosis is in jeopardy, the prosecution told AFP. He was discovered at 5:45 a.m. on the public highway of this town heavily affected by drug trafficking, police said.

The man had bullet holes in the head and lower back and was transferred to hospital by emergency services who alerted the police, she added. The investigation was entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS). Since the start of the year, around fifty episodes of gun violence linked to drug trafficking have been recorded in the territory of Grenoble and Échirolles, a commune of 36,000 inhabitants bordering the Alpine metropolis, the authorities more hesitant to talk about “gang war”.
