Residents of Bassins à Flot warn of polluting activities at the Port of Bordeaux

It’s the story of David versus Goliath. On the one hand, the inhabitants of the Bassins afloat, exhausted by boat refit activities, a series of periodic overhaul operations on a ship’s hull, and releasing unbreathable dust. Opposite, the Grand Maritime Port of Bordeaux (GPMB) which, according to residents of the neighborhood, has been ignored for years.
Today, under the aegis of the Association for the Defense of the Environment and the Quality of Life of the Bassins à Flot District, around fifty local residents are campaigning for the Port to carry out an environmental impact study. Alongside the barracks, they had already summoned the Port for interim relief in March this year: the court hearing ended in a halt to the proceedings. Tired of not getting answers, the members of the association ordered a soil analysis themselves.
