A Saint-Nazaire club faced with an explosion of insecurity

This fall, the Saint-Marc Club of Saint-Nazaire experienced difficult times. Two training sessions were brutally interrupted by groups of young people in the sensitive Bouletterie district. First, around twenty people, armed with iron bars, gathered near the field, ostensibly creating an atmosphere of threat.

Armed incidents on the training ground

Then a more alarming incident saw teenagers on motorbikes invade the pitch, one of them brandishing what appeared to be a gun, all while kids from the club were training. These events, confirmed by a police source to our colleagues at Figarowould have taken place between the end of October and the beginning of November. The club’s management did not wish to comment directly on these intrusions, but Yasmine Arabi-Katbi, the president of Saint-Marc, shared her dismay with the local press: “ Never experienced this » in ten years of football, she said.

She also revealed that some young people had difficulty sleeping after these events, and that parents were now hesitant to bring their children to training, which led to absences.

A relocated match to avoid conflicts

The incidents appeared to target a young member of the club, involved in an unclear rivalry, but fortunately he was not present during the disturbance. In the meantime, a match for the club’s U18s against Saint-Nazaire Atlantique Football (SNAF) had to be moved from La Bouletterie to Bellevue due to tensions.

Wave of violence at Bouletterie

Finally, to calm the situation, Saint-Marc decided to part ways with the young player at the heart of these troubles. Even if this pacified sporting activities, the Bouletterie district was not spared a wave of violence this fall, culminating with the opening of an assassination investigation after the execution of a 19-year-old at his home in early December.
