Now that the challenge of reconstruction has been successful, that the building has regained all its splendor and has reopened to the public, let’s return (one last time?) in a few figures to what remains one of the most beautiful places in the capital if not from France and its restoration…
The most visited cultural monument
With 14 million visitors per year before the fire, Notre-Dame is the cultural monument that attracts the most people in France; which should hardly change with its reopening to the public. A true architectural feat of the Middle Ages, begun in the 12th centurye century, it is also one of the oldest Gothic cathedrals in France.
And then, we don’t necessarily know it, but its square is considered the “zero kilometer point” of French roads from which the distances between Paris and the rest of the country are calculated.
A successful restoration
Although it lasted five long years, the Notre-Dame de Paris reconstruction project remains a true feat now recognized throughout the world. Whether it is the site and its conditions itself, but of course the know-how of the two thousand craftsmen who worked throughout France to make it a success. All this for a total cost estimated at 700 million euros, entirely covered by donations from around the world, and even more since 846 million euros will have been collected from 340,000 donors from 150 countries. This is also a great success…
