The hats for the qualifiers for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations, CAN 2025, scheduled for next year in Morocco, are now known. The Confederation of African Football will reveal the date of the draw later. In view of this event, highly anticipated by fans of African football, the 48 countries still in the running have been divided into four hats, based on the latest FIFA Nations Ranking for the month of April.
The Moroccan host thus logically finds itself in Hat 1 in the company of the two finalists of the 2024 edition, Ivory Coast and Nigeria, as well as the usual headliners of the tournament like Senegal, Egypt, Cameroon or even Mali, Algeria and DR Congo.
On the other hand, several large African nations such as Guinea, Ghana and Gabon must be content with Hat number 2. Hat number 3 will also be richly stocked with teams like Madagascar, Congo or even Togo and Tanzania.
A position which certainly does not mean that the Lions will not inherit strong opponents for the group stage of the next CAN. It should be remembered that the 48 countries will be divided into 12 groups of 4 teams which will compete over 6 days starting in September 2024. The first two in each group will punch their ticket for the final phase in the “land of the Lions of Atlas”!
