Renault Trucks in Bourg-en-Bresse: start of an ambitious photovoltaic project

The work, visible from avenue Amédée Mercier, will transform the site into one of the largest photovoltaic shade complexes in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Ultimately, these solar panels will produce the equivalent of the annual consumption of 12,500 inhabitants, or a quarter of the population of Bourg-en-Bresse.

1,200 car spaces and 1,500 covered truck spaces

Thierry Dutilloy, regional director of TotalEnergies, which is financing the project, explains:

“It is one of the largest photovoltaic shade houses in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and here in Ain, with the particularity of self-consumption for around 4 megawatts peak, which will represent, for the Bourg-en-Bresse site, 30% of their electricity consumption It is interesting, in this factory which today manufactures electric trucks for the Renault Trucks Group, to also see carbon-free electricity. feed it.”

Two years of work for an investment of 20 million euros

The project, costing 20 million euros, will take place over two years on an occupied site, requiring a reorganization of parking lots for the site’s 2,000 employees.

Part of the energy produced will directly power the Renault Trucks site, while the rest will be reinjected into the electricity network.
