Morocco, Portugal and Spain have been officially chosen for awelcome the 2030 FIFA World Cup, during an extraordinary session of the FIFA CongressIFA held on Wednesday by videoconference from Zurich.
The three neighboring countries, Morocco, Portugal and Spain are confirmed by FIFA for a tripartite organization of the 2030 World Cup.
During this extraordinary session in Zurich, chaired by Gianni Infantino, FIFA also validated the holding of the three centenary matches in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, while Saudi Arabia was confirmed as host for the 2034 World Cup.
The President of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, welcomed this designation, stressing that it demonstrates the international confidence placed in Morocco and its progress under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The tripartite file “Yalla Vamos 2030”, the only candidate in the running, obtained a score of 4.2 out of 5 in the FIFA technical report, which highlighted the quality of the proposed infrastructure and the commercial potential of the project.
The plan provides for 20 stadiums, including six in Morocco, including the Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca proposed for the opening and final matches, alongside Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid and Camp Nou in Barcelona.
In 2022, Qatar made history by becoming the first Arab country to host the cocompetition, offering an edition marked by modern infrastructures and a format cunprecedented impact.
This historic edition will mark the first co-organization between Africa and Europe,ith matches spread across the three partner countries.
The historic designation confirms Morocco’s ambition to play a major role inorganization of international events while putting football at the service ofsocio-economic development, as Mr. Lekjaa recalled.
It is also a strong signal for the strengthening of ties between Africa and Europe to traver sport.
