has no longer had a Minister of National Education since Thursday December 5 and the resignation of the Barnier governmentbut, in Eure, the Force Ouvrière (FO) federation of National Education does not intend to let down its guard. “It is not at a time when the government is weakened that we should release the pressure. It is now that we must weigh against new anti-social measures,” she announced in a press release sent to the press on Monday.

No victory on December 5

This Tuesday, December 10, its striking members were invited to participate in a general meetingin order to decide on the continuation of the movement the following two days and the actions to be taken. Around twenty of them, from the four corners of the department, from the first and second degrees, had made the trip to the Évreux Labor Exchange.

The opportunity to give voice to everyone, after the day of mobilization of civil servants on December 5 which, if it brought together a thousand people in the streets of Évreux and between 130,000 and 200,000 in France, did not make it possible to satisfy the demands of the strikers. FO continues to demand the creation of necessary positions, the repeal of the knowledge shock, the abandonment of act 2 of the inclusive school, the general increase in salaries, the elimination of the waiting day, the repeal pension reform and the creation of civil servant status for AESH with a real salary.

Training strength

Unlike other education union organizations in Eure, FO has chosen the path of renewable strikefrom December 10, the only strategy, in his eyes, to win.

“We are a driving force for other sectors. I am on strike because I want to show my colleagues that we must not give up. Our conviction will lead to others. I will be there tomorrow and the following days, too bad for the salary,” says Nathalie Petit, classics teacher at the Marcel Pagnol college in Gravigny and at the Modeste Leroy high school in Évreux.

Leaflet distribution and rally

The deterioration of their working conditions, the suffering of certain teachers, the lack of attractiveness of the profession, frozen remuneration, and reasons for anger are numerous. Around the table, they justify continuing and “imposing a balance of power”.

The assembly decided to maintain its call for a strike and to gather in front of the Eure prefecture, Wednesday December 11 at 2 p.m. (FO requested an audience with the prefect Charles Giusti). The strikers hoped, in the meantime, convince other colleaguesand other union organizations to participate in the movement, “because there is no divergence in the inter-union”, notes one of them.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the strikers left distribute leaflets in front of the hospital, the stations, the administrations. Decided collectively, the strategy of the renewable strike from December 10 to 12 was discussed. “I am motivated but not necessarily to go on strike for three days without results. I think you have to wait until you are in the inter-union before going on a renewable basis,” considers Alexandre Brière, physics-chemistry teacher at the Senghor high school in Évreux.

An argument countered by Nathalie Petit:

I don't see how to bring others along if you're not on strike yourself, even if it means financial sacrifices. Always procrastinating is not the solution. Now we are unhappy.

Faced with colleagues “who would like results without getting wet”, the AG decided after three hours: “No social movement has been won without going on strike”.
