Swiss double! Murisier wins ahead of Odermatt – rts.ch

Swiss double during the Beaver Creek World Cup downhill! Justin Murisier scored his first success by 0”20 ahead of Marco Odermatt.

Everything comes in time to those who wait. Starting with bib 3, Justin Murisier was good in all sectors. Fluid at the top in the sliding sector, precise in the technical passages, the 32-year-old from Valais was simply the best. Even better than Odermatt.

“It was clearly an advantage to start with a small bib. The wait was very long. It was difficult to control my emotions. The track was incredibly prepared. I knew how to take advantage of it. It’s so beautiful to have managed to deliver such a performance”explained Murisier after the race.

“Get rid of” Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, winner of the last four races in Colorado (2 downhills and 2 Super-G) but unfortunately injured, Marco Odermatt has found his master within his own team. Very offensive, the Nidwalden spared no effort. After 1’17, the World Cup boss was even in front, but he made some inaccuracies in the final part. The podium is completed by Miha Hrobat at 0”35.

A fall for Boisset

Justin Murisier joins the list of Swiss downhill winners at Beaver Creek with big names such as Franz Heinzer, Peter Müller, Carlo Janka, Patrick Küng and Beat Feuz. Three other Swiss are currently still in the top 15. Stefan Rogentin and Alexis Monney are tied for 11th place, while Marco Kohler occupies 13th place.

It went less well for Franjo von Allmen, only 21st. Black spot in the Swiss camp, the fall of Arnaud Boisset. The Valaisan violently hit the snow with his head before going into the net. He was sledged down.
