It wasn't just a goodbye for Dimitri Payet, who left Marseille after the 2022-2023 season to bounce back at the Vasco da Gama club in Brazil where he still plays today. In an interview with the L'Equipe channel, the Reunionese announces his return. When ? He doesn't specify it but we know that he is linked to the Brazilian club until June 2025. Afterwards, the former OM captain could therefore return to Marseille but a priori not to play “I want to help, be useful, help continue to grow OM. It’s signed, there will be a return” said Dimitri Payet. He will therefore only return when he has definitively put away the crampons. Dimitri Payet would have negotiated a retraining clause with OM at the time of his departure.
During this same remote interview, Dimitri Payet first looks back on his time at OM and in particular on the last months as a player with the club: “My last season (at OM) was difficult personally. As captain, I did what I had to do: a captain must think of others before himself. I took care of others. There will be a return to the club, after which we will discuss more details.” So a little patience before seeing the former number 10 again at the Vélodrome!
