Night of hardship for the passengers of a train -Paris. Sunday November 24, 2024, travelers arrived more than seven hours late in the capital. After being stopped by branches that fell on the track due to strong winds, their Nomad train hit wild boars, SNCF told AFP on Monday.

“Winds over 110 km/h”

Train 3348 linking Caen to Paris, which was due to arrive at 9:26 p.m. Sunday November 24, 2024, did not reach its destination until 5 hours this Monday, November 25.

“SNCF Réseau regrets the situation experienced by customers between Caen and Paris last night”, while “winds of more than 110 km/h swept across ” on Sunday, the company underlined. “More than one fifteen trees and branches fell on the tracks and overhead lines. Some branches fell in the evening near Romilly-la-Puthenay” (Eure), she said.

The Caen-Paris “was arrested following this incident. We sent teams to the site. SNCF Réseau agents managed to clear the branches and restore electricity around 11:30 p.m.,” the company said.

After the branches, the wild boars

The train was able to leave, “but unfortunately it hit four wild boars at the height of Conches. SNCF Réseau teams and firefighters returned to the site again. The wild boars damaged the oar which could no longer leave. We therefore organized the transfer of passengers from 3348 to the train which followed it”, and which was also delayed, she detailed.

“Meal boxes were distributed on this occasion. The travelers were then able to leave for Paris. They will be able to benefit from compensation of 200% of the price of their ticket,” added the SNCF.
