Charlotte de Turckheim was cash. The French capital makes the whole world dream with its emblematic monuments including the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the Arc de Triomphe.
Every year, many tourists come for an unforgettable stay, to their delight. For her part, the French actress says she is delighted to no longer live there. In the show
Telematin this Monday, November 25, she first praised this city. “Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I find it magical,” she said.
However, there is a small concern, which seems to be shared by a large number of people.
Charlotte de Turckheim affirms it: her only downside in Paris…
“these are the Parisians. You’re a bit stupid anyway” , she blurted out, in complete transparency. Enough to cause surprise but also hilarity among the journalists on set. “No, what annoys me is that you are complaining. But it never works,” she continued, specifying: “It’s even a gag.” Charlotte de Turckheim has a problem with the attitude of some people before remembering that she is also Parisian. “I never had that mentality…well maybe.”
Charlotte de Turckheim: a Parisian childhood of which she only has good memories
During her childhood, Charlotte de Turckheim lived in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Enough to react to journalists who want to know if she appreciated – or not – living in the chic neighborhoods of the capital. “It’s very annoying. I was scared”, she confided before continuing: “There is a lot of satire. I can do statistics. It's a bit empty. It’s very calm.” If the chic neighborhoods are very famous, living there does not seem to be as idyllic as one might think, as Charlotte de Turckheim indicates.
During the rest of the interview, which for a moment focused on Paris, the journalist mentioned that of Montparnasse, more precisely rue de la Gaîté. A place where the actress has very good memories since she spent a lot of time there.
“It was the great explosion of the café theater. It was incredible modernity, it was new”she remembered. For any artist who wanted to do comedy, this was the most suitable place. “The café-theatre is coming, it brings joy, modernity. Before going on stage, we swept the room, we made the sets. It was very happy,” she continued before simply concluding: “Montparnasse is more lively than the 16th”.
Charlotte de Turckheim: “people thought we were rich”
This is not the first time that Charlotte de Turckheim talks about her childhood in Paris. In the show The Couchbroadcast on France 3 in 2017, she confided that she had been the subject of prejudice regarding her Parisian life. “People thought we were very rich because we lived in a house with a garden in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.” she said. However, if it seemed like a real dream, the actress clarifies that it was not at all the case. “But in fact, we were tenants, the house was full of young foreigners, it was a very bohemian atmosphere. she continued before concluding: “Our neighbors looked at us harshly. Living in the 16th century was sometimes humiliating.”
