Find the spray and sea waves of the week in Sète and on the Thau basin with its little sentences, offbeat, brief news and other echoes.
Sticking your sailboat against the decks: the fashion of the moment
We mentioned in our Wednesday newspaper the unusual situation that occurred Monday evening at the Tivoli bridge. A sailboat had, in fact, found itself stuck against the metal structure. It turns out that the boat had suffered a propulsion problem and had slowly drifted until it stuck to the deck before it even opened. Well that's exactly what happened the day before with another sailboat for the same reasons against the Sadi-Carnot bridge. From there to making it a competition…
The festival of vibrant voices from the Mediterranean in danger
Could the free Voix Vives poetry festival which is held every year in Sète be in danger? The association has just launched a call for donations on the helloasso platform. “In the difficult context which is today that of culture, and particularly of poetry, we are calling on you to preserve this event which receives a particularly strong response from the public each year (nearly 75,000 spectators), to maintain the dynamics and diversity which are its own”, indicates the association on its Facebook page. These donations would notably allow “to ensure the arrival of poets and artists from all backgrounds, who make this festival a space of cultural diversity and creation”. The festival invites no less than 70 poets each year.
Anatole-France: it was chilly on the day of the inauguration
Completely redesigned and renovated for €6.75 million, the Anatole-France school now ticks all the boxes for environmental standards. Irony of Monday's inauguration: some of the children and teachers were cold in the morning. And it's not the first time. Because in the classes located on the Thau lagoon side, to the north, the cold which seeps through the vents lowers the temperature. “On a windy day and when the heating doesn't turn on as was the case on Monday, it's terrible! We have reported the problem to the town hall for a while but it has still not been resolved.”complains a teacher. The fight against global warming still has its limits.
Fake news: a “prank” in very bad taste
Following our article evoking a video widely relayed on social networks (1.7 million views on Tiktok) containing conspiratorial remarks on a boat “responsible” floods in Valence and having supposedly made a stopover in Sète, the Internet user behind the video assured that he wanted to do “a prank”or a joke, in English. A joke in very bad taste when we know to what extent this false information from the conspiratorial sphere is propagated at high speed via social networks.
