The A84 is closed in the direction Caen towards Rennes, at Villedieu-les-Poêles (Some), because of a accident involving eight cars.

It occurred around 1:55 p.m. Friday November 22, 2024.

Smart Bison says this physical accident involves six light vehicles. It took place in the Caen towards Rennes direction (north-south direction).

All lanes are neutralized at PR 186 at Rouffignydelegated municipality of Villedieu-les-Poêles. So it's best to avoid this area if you can.

At 4:30 p.m., the Sdis 50 (Manche departmental fire and rescue service) communicated more information: the pileup involved eight cars which ended up on the slow lane, the hard shoulder and the embankment.

34 firefighters engaged

The Sdis 50 reports 16 people involved.

The accident left five minor injuries, transported to area hospitals: a 23-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man.

Another victim, a 40-year-old woman with minor injuries, refused to be taken to hospital. The ten other people, unharmed, were left behind.

This pileup required numerous emergency services: “four ambulances, a protection vehicle and a road emergency vehicle, a fire van, a personnel transport vehicle, a nurse, a chain of command” and 34 firefighters from the emergency centers. Villedieu-les-Poêles, Percy-en-Normandie, Avranches and La Haye-Pesnel.

The A84 remains closed on one lane during the intervention, making traffic difficult.
