“Samuel Patty compared to what I'm going to do to you, it's a joke”, “I'll dismember you, I'll burn you alive, I'm worse than a terrorist”… This Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the criminal court of 'Évry-Courcouronnes sentenced a 26-year-old man to 12 months' imprisonment for threatening to kill a person holding public authority, namely the prefect of Essonne, Frédérique Camilleri.

“You are the second person I will murder”

An outburst and a real wave of threats which began following a first conviction. On September 23, the defendant in pre-trial detention in Fleury-Mérogis since 2022 in a murder casewho will be tried at the assizes in 2025, was sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment for having threatened to kill a magistrate and for carrying a category B weapon.

A few weeks after this conviction, Jason P. received a letter from the Essonne prefecture telling him that he was prohibited from carrying a weapon for five years. From there, the accused sees red and decides to write a letter to the prefect while targeting a second person who works in the state representative's office.

“In your letter that the victims received between November 5 and 7, 2024, you say in particular the following things: “You are the second person that I will murder », “Patty, this is not a joke”, “The Koran is not threats, but f*****g promises””, lists the president of the criminal court.

A toothache at the origin of the threats

During the hearing, Jason P. argued his right to silence. During his custody, the latter nevertheless claimed that he had written this letter out of anger and because of a toothache.

“To say that it was because of a toothache problem that he wrote this letter is not understandable. He's someone who knows very well what he's doing.we can see this in particular thanks to the numerous incidents during his detention: fire in his cell, violence, threatening remarks, possession of a cell phone… We have before us the most dangerous profile of the immediate appearances of this Wednesday”, notably declared the representative of the public prosecutor who had requested 2 years and 8 months of imprisonment.
