Prime Minister Michel Barnier spoke by telephone with representatives of the Lot-et-Garonne Rural Coordination, mobilized in Agen. They asked him for “commitments on non-transposition of European standards” because for them, “the point of resolution of the agricultural crisis is here”report journalists from France Inter and franceinfo who were able to listen to the exchange.
“We urgently need your word on these subjects,” declared Karine Duc, one of the co-presidents of the Lot-et-Garonne Rural Coordination, to Michel Barnier. “You have my word”, replied the Prime Minister, whose remarks were recorded and broadcast on franceinfo. The head of government is committed to “look at these transpositions point by point”. This was not enough to convince the representatives of the Rural Coordination on the line who asked him to “make written commitments”.
Questioned after the exchange by the France Inter journalist in Agen, the demonstrators repeated that they did not believe “than to actions”. They believe that for the moment, Michel Barnier “committed to not much” except that he “was going to work on all these transpositions”.
Thus, the Rural Coordination has the firm intention of continuing the mobilization. “When he announces something openly, we will return home”says a member of the union in Agen. The demonstrators will leave the town of Lot-et-Garonne at 10:30 a.m. to reach Bordeaux, in Gironde. “All the tractors follow each other, we are going to join the CR33 already there, but at other strategic points”, announced a member of the Rural Coordination to the demonstrators present in Agen. A convoy must also head towards Tarn-et-Garonne and another towards Landes, specifies the franceinfo journalist.
