Christian Guilbertmayor of Plévenet Maxime Leborgnethat of Pluduno, communes close to Dinan (Côtes-d'Armor) took stock and revealed, among other things, important dates concerning the proposed merger of their two municipalities.

Respect the identity of the two municipalities

The Thursday December 5, 2024 the vote of each municipal council will take place. If it is positive, the file will be sent to the prefecture. A prefectural decree will then rule on the creation, or not, of the new commune, from the month of January 2025.

The name of the new municipality has been revealed. It will be Val d'Arguenon.

Maxime Leborgne recalled “that the new commune is made for the 2,924 inhabitants and not for the elected officials. It will respect the identity of the founding municipalities, allow economies of scale and preserve our self-financing capacity. In terms of addressing, we will always live in Pléven, always Pluduno. »

Municipal elections in 2026

He clearly confirmed that it was not a question of making one disappear for the benefit of the other, “we present ourselves as avant-garde municipalities, if we had not felt that we were right, we would have abandoned the idea,” said Christian Guilbert.

The founding idea is to work together to make the region live better, “of course the cards will be reshuffled in terms of governance with elections planned for 2026.”

Taxes and schools

THE tax rate planned for the new municipality were announced, “for built land, it will be 34.72%, for unbuilt land 74.39% and for secondary residences a rate of 13.10%”, indicated Loïc Reveldeputy in charge of finances at Pluduno.

The question of schools raised many questions to which the mayors responded in complete transparency.

“The heart of the village is its school, we are following this matter with the greatest attention”, while specifying that no notable change is to come, “within the new commune the priority remains to preserve and to reinforce the good dynamic in order to sustain the schools of each village. Together, we will be more attractive to welcome new families.”

“Nothing will change in people’s daily lives”

Thierry Conan, ADAC

The presentation of the new commune was reinforced by Thierry Conanproject manager of theADAC (Departmental Agency for Assistance to Local Authorities).

He supported and accompanied this work throughout its journey: “In people’s daily lives, this will not change anything. All the planets were aligned and it is better to take this step when the financial situation of the municipalities is healthy on each side and thus anticipate than to suffer cuts from the State on a certain number of expenses. We quickly realize that the will is there. This new commune will be well born. »
