Until November 22, the department is organizing Children's Week, combining professional meetings and general public initiatives to reflect and act in favor of children's rights.
For the first time, the department is devoting a week to children.
Until November 22, the department of Maine-et-Loire inaugurates Children's Week, an initiative coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This event, part of a dynamic of awareness and exchange, combines activities intended for the general public and professional meetings, highlighting the challenges linked to the protection and well-being of children.
A program for all those involved in childhood
Among the highlights of this week is the installation of the Child Protection Youth Council, a body created to give a voice to young people entrusted to Child Welfare. Made up of 44 young people aged 8 to 21, this structure aims to strengthen their participation in decisions that concern them. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday November 20 at the Hôtel du Département in Angers.
For professionals, a day of exchanges is organized on Friday November 22 at the Catholic University of the West (UCO). It will include a conference devoted to the status of children in care and a session dedicated to the prevention and protection of children, in partnership with France Enfance Protégée and Departments of France.
Awareness, orientation and celebration
The week will end with the graduation ceremony for young people entrusted to Child Welfare. Also organized at UCO, this evening will highlight the educational and personal successes of young people. Florence Dabin, president of the Department, and Philippe Chopin, prefect of Maine-et-Loire, will be present to welcome these courses.
At the same time, the department will participate in the Carrefour de l'Orientation, des Métiers et de l'Entreprise in Cholet from November 21 to 23. This meeting will provide an information space on childhood professions and professional opportunities in this field.
