Agricultural crisis: in Vendée and Loire-Atlantique, angry farmers will increase their actions

The tarpaulins began last weekend. After having, at the start of the year, returned dozens of town entrance signs in Loire-Atlantique and Vendée, farmers this time covered them. Through messages like “No to Mercosur“or again”Mercosur-One“, the agricultural world is targeting the free trade treaty that Europe is preparing to sign with several Latin American countries – after more than 25 years of negotiations, despite fierce opposition from France. In Vendée, the mobilization began at 6 a.m.by a gathering of around ten tractors, between 20 and 30 farmers in front of the sub-prefecture building, according to the FDSEA joined this morning by France Bleu Loire Océan. Other actions will follow, during the day, in many towns in the department but also in Loire-Atlantique.

Traffic may be disrupted on several axes

After leaving their farms, at the call of the FNSEA, several dozen tractors are called upon to train a procession from La Roche-sur-Yonbefore gathering at the entrance to La Ferrière, some 10 kilometers further. The actions will continue after lunch, notably in Missillac, in Loire-Atlantique.

But it is at the end of the day that disruptions are likely to be significant for motorists. As people leave work, farmers will increase operations. From 6 p.m., they will occupy the Europe roundabout at the entrance to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. At the same time, their colleagues from Loire-Atlantique will try to make themselves heard in Pontchâteau, Ancenis, Nort-sur-Erdre, Blain, Chateaubriant and even Saint-Philbert-de-Grandlieu.
