HERITAGE / 100 buildings are beneficiaries of the national collection of “little Notre-Dames” including two churches in the Hautes-Alpes and the Alpes de Haute-Provence

Two churches in the Southern Alps, selected by the Heritage Foundation as part of its national collection of “little Notre-Dames”. A collection for the religious heritage of the villages. These are the church of Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes in the Hautes-Alpes, and the church of the Invention of the Holy Cross in Lurs in the Alpes de Haute-Provence.

Restore to better preserve over time

For the first, it is a question of urgently restoring the roof which presents disorders with “ water infiltration detrimental to the integrity of the building and its interior furniture “. An architect's report concluded that the roofs and zincwork should be restored. Of the 20,000 euros hoped for, 12,080 euros were collected.

For the Lurs building, which is one of the oldest churches in the Pays de Forcalquier, almost 14,000 euros were collected, while the aim was to secure the building, in particular its roof and the bell tower. The municipality plans to create concert-type events or even visits to revive this heritage.

The first 100 buildings in will benefit from this collection set up by the Heritage Foundation, “ 61% are not protected as historic monuments, 55% are closed to the public or in danger, and almost 50% are located in municipalities with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants.
