Saturday November 9, 2024, a ceremony took place at the resistance stele in Vire , to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the death of General de Gaulle.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Stéphanie Lefort, sub-prefect; Catherine Gourney-Leconte, vice-president of the Normandy Region; Coraline Brison-Valognes, departmental councilor of ; Lucien Bazin, departmental councilor of Calvados and Nicole Desmottes, mayor of Vire Normandy.

Laying of wreaths

After hearing the Song of the partisans (the anthem of the French Resistance)three wreaths were placed at the foot of the resistance stele. Then the bells rang, followed by The Marseillaise. To close the ceremony, the authorities present greeted the flag bearers. Among them, a newcomer.

New flag bearer

Sébastien Dumontbuilding painter, lives in the delegated commune of Vaudry. At age 52, he volunteered to become a standard bearer. He officiated for the first time, during this ceremony which celebrated the 54th anniversary of the death of General de Gaulle.

Sébastien Dumont completed 14 months of active military service in 2nd engineer regiment in . He was called to volunteer to participate in a theater of external operations.
