Snow, ice, winds, buses and trains prevented from traveling… Storm Caetano, which crossed the west of France on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 November 2024, had numerous consequences in Calvados.
5,600 homes without electricity in Calvados
Among the undesirable effects of the climatic event, the power cuts which affected many households. This Saturday, November 23, at 8 a.m., 47,000 Enedis customers were still without power throughout France, including 19,000 in Normandy. In Calvados, these are 5,600 homes who did not have access to the electricity network.
Yesterday Friday, November 22, at the end of the day, there were still 9,100 in the department.
Enedis aims to restore power to more than 90% of customers affected by the storm by this (Saturday) evening and the rest on Sunday evening.
Helicopters and drones as reinforcements
In Normandy, around 1,000 people (Enedis technicians and service providers) are mobilized to restore electricity.
The network manager also called on helicopters and drones to “carry out diagnostics in the most affected areas”.
