Gard Food Bank collects, donate if you can

On October 19, on the occasion of the open day, the Food Bank (BA30) offered the general public, its patrons and partners a meeting with the volunteers. The opportunity for discussions around numerous workshops such as the fight against food waste, the creation of easy cooking recipes, a discovery of partner associations, a meeting with the Gard diabetics association.

The president of the French Food Bank Federation, Jean Cottave, was present to support the action of the BA30. He was thus able to meet many elected officials from the department and in particular Franck Proust President of Nîmes Métropole, who is currently developing and leading the relocation project within the Nîmes Gare Market. This unique event aroused real interest among the general public.

Every year, on the last weekend of November, the Gard Food Bank organizes the national collection in its partner Gard stores. This year, it will take place from Friday November 22 to Sunday November 24, 2024. This weekend of solidarity is a moment during which volunteers in orange vests appeal to the generosity of the general public.

This national collection is a solidarity event, organized by the BA30 during which more than 950 volunteers are mobilized during this November weekend, will collect food and hygiene products in more than 140 collection points in our department .

It is important to know that each food item collected by volunteers is redistributed in the Gard so that this aid locally supports people in situations of poverty. Since the end of October, the solidarity grocery store on the Hoche site (University of Nîmes) has been open on Tuesdays… BA30 volunteers welcome 120 students per week.

Stores, schools, town halls, businesses, you can also participate in this 2024 collection because the figures from the Banque Alimentaire du Gard are enormous. It supports 42,600 volunteers through its 91 partner associations. This new collection is essential since it allows us to collect the equivalent of 350,000 meals!

Otherwise, on November 15, the BA30 will be present during the “Fridays of the agglomeration – 2024/2025 season” shows: 11/15 in Moulézan, 11/22 in Rodilhan and 11/29 in Marguerittes.
