Drome. What future for the former Saint-Donat-sur-l’Herbasse college? The Department launches a call for projects

Built in the 1970s, the college of Saint-Donat-sur-l’Herbasse (Drome)a town located north of Valence, was used until 2022 and the opening of the new Joséphine-Baker departmental college.

With a capacity of around 400 students, this establishment was replaced by a new college in anticipation of demographic developments. As part of its real estate asset management policy, the Department has made the choice to put this property for sale via a call for projects.

3,000 m² of buildings and 15,000 m² of land in the city center

The property includes approximately 3 000 m² of frame divided into eight buildings, including buildings dedicated to general education, sciences, specialized education as well as a school restaurant.

In addition to the playground, the land of 15,000 m² includes an athletics ring and several artificial team sports fields. The land is accessible to vehicles and pedestrians with two accesses, to the west and to the east. The sports fields have direct access from the outside.

This old college is located at 3, route de Saint-Bardouxin the immediate vicinity of the city center and at the southern limit of the urbanized area of ​​the municipality. This sector is characterized by a heterogeneous architecture, with residential areas and numerous public or collective interest facilities: gymnasium, police station, Youth and Culture Center, bowling alley, cinema, etc.

No commercial activity

With this call for projects, the Department wishes to participate in the urban dynamics of the municipality. The site is not intended to accommodate commercial activity.

In consultation with the town hall of Saint-Donat-sur-l'Herbasse which will be part of the jury, the Department will prioritize projects around housing and services. This site is subject to the regulations for urban areas of the local town planning plan, currently being modified, and to the regulations of the Flood Risk Prevention Plan (PPRi).

A selection in several stages

The first phase of candidate selection begins this Friday, November 8 and will end January 15, 2025. A visit to the site, upon prior registration, will be organized on December 10.

Once the selection phase is completed, successful candidates will have until mid-May 2025 to submit their final project. The winner will be chosen in July 2025.
