A childcare assistant from a nursery in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines) was indicted this Thursday, after suspicions of mistreatment, we learned franceinfo from a source close to the case and the Versailles prosecutor's office. She is suspected of physical and psychological abuse against at least eight children over a period of three years. The director of the nursery was also indicted for not having reported these facts.
The childcare worker's assistant is indicted by the head of “violence without incapacity against a minor aged 15 by an ascendant or a person having authority over the victim”. The director for her part was also indicted for “non-reporting of ill-treatment inflicted on a 15-year-old minor” et “voluntary abstention from preventing a crime or offense against the integrity of a minor aged 15”.
According to the first elements of the investigation, from a source close to the case, it was following the testimony of an intern who worked in this crèche last spring that the investigation began last July. The acts alleged against the childcare worker began in October 2021 and lasted until June 11, 2024. The director of the crèche is suspected of having been aware of the actions of the childcare assistant from October 2023, but for having said nothing, allowing the childcare worker to continue her actions.
A judicial investigation is open. The investigation is entrusted to the judicial police.
