“Do a three-month test” is the challenge that Julien Guiheux took when he opened SFI 3D, a three-dimensional printing shop, in Villedieu-les-Poêles, in January 2024.
Finally, he renewed his lease, but “the last summer season was not very good for me and for many other traders,” assures the 23-year-old young man.
So, in August, Julien closed the doors of his pop-up store, after having “really had a blast in this adventure”.
An adventure that he continues by selling his objects, from now on printed at home, to order.
Practical objects, at low prices, for everyday life
At SFI 3D, tourists and local residents were “happy to be able to buy parts that were difficult to find,” assures the former manager of the mute store. A fuel cap for a motorhome, a cable tidy, a strainer basket for the sink…
All these little objects that we sometimes have difficulty finding in the right dimensions, in the surrounding shops, and which were offered at low prices – “around €3 to €5” – by Julien.
After closing shop, the latter finally decided to continue “to manufacture all types of parts, but on request”. Color or size, you can customize everything, thanks to the modeling carried out before printing.
Recyclable and Made in Manche
To operate, professional machines use a thread made from corn starch.
A more ecological material than plastic, and 100 % recyclable.
In this sense, Julien also says he is proud, “that the creators of 3D parts are developing, and that we can compete, on our scale, with giants like Temu (which mainly manufactures on the Asian continent) but with Made In accessible France”.
Goodies, decoration…that will please pop culture fans
Beyond practical objects, Julien also sells decorative creations inspired by various fantastic universeswhich should please fans of the saga Star Wars, from the Marvel universe, or even that of Disney…
To place an order, you must directly contact the young man, who would, in the future, also like to sell his creations on the markets.
