Sunday for the Castelnau-Madiran reception, the leaders of Montestruc Gers Rugby invited the club's partners for a pre-match meal. A presentation of a new set of jerseys and rewards from neighboring farmers for their involvement (watering, earthworks, clearing) completed the congratulations and conviviality that make the club strong. The priest-player, François-Xavier Branthomme, took the opportunity to bless the game of jerseys.
After the festivities and thanks, it was time for the match.
Spectators were able to see two faces of the “reds and blacks”. First of all, an almost perfect first half, with movement and good choices of play materialized by three tries and a score at the break of 22 to 3.
But the restart is totally different, with many mistakes (2 yellow cards, 5 white cards). In numerical superiority, Castelnau will take advantage and come back to score with two tries from the back lines. A final penalty from Pomes still allows MGR to maintain a 10-point gap at the end of the match.
The rest weekend will allow us to rest and prepare for the third block which will be more solid with oppositions between teams at the top of the ranking. It will take two halves like the first on Sunday to compete with Marciac, Panjas and Laloubère, the next opponents.
