The theater workshops of the Rionet social and cultural center offer an evening in the Bétaille multipurpose room, Saturday November 9 at 8 p.m. “At my age, I still hide to smoke” is the title of the piece written by Rayhana.
Rayhana Obermeyer, known as Rayhana, born in 1963 in Algiers, is a Franco-Algerian feminist actress, author, playwright and director. Daughter of a veteran of the Algerian War, she grew up in Bab el-Oued. She left Algiers in 2000 to escape the terror imposed by the Islamic Salvation Front. Threatened with death, she had lost artist and journalist friends. She therefore chose exile, and France.
The direction is provided by Sylvie Bellet, professional actress, who runs the Rionet theater workshops.
“At my age, I still hide to smoke” was the subject of a film, directed by Rayhana, released in 2017. In the heart of the hammam far from the accusatory gaze of men, mothers, lovers, virgins or exalted Islamists, buttocks and scarves of God confront each other, call out to each other between fits of laughter, tears and anger, the Bible and the Koran… before the whistle of a dagger and the silence of God.
Entrance is free, show in the hat. Come in large numbers.
