2008, 2011, 2021 and 2025: the Tour de France marks its return to Indre. The announcement was made official during the presentation of the route by the Tour Director, Christian Prudhomme, this Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from the Palais des Congrès in Paris. The 9e stage, on Sunday July 13, 2025, will take the peloton from Chinon to the prefecture town of Indre where the finish will be judged on avenue de La Châtre, at the foot of the Gaston-Petit stadium.
“After hosting the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic shooting events this summer, it is an honor and a pleasure to once again be the finish city of the Great Loop,” says Gil Avérous, Minister of Sports, Youth and of Community Life and Mayor of Châteauroux The Tour de France is both a festive and popular event which gives pride of place to the regions. I know how to count on the mobilization of our associative and sporting fabric to animate it. this day when Châteauroux will once again be in the spotlight.”

After having hosted the Olympic flame then the Games, the Tour de France is part of the tradition of events major sports events that we have the honor of hosting in the department. The Indriens will be able to gather on the roadsides for this great celebration, and all local actors will be mobilized to show a dynamic and sporting image of Indre. with the ambition to live moments unforgettable in our territory.”
