Smiles and relief were there this Monday, November 4, 2024. After an aborted return to school in September due to construction delays, the new Lucie-Aubrac school group in Poissy (Yvelines) welcomed its nursery and elementary school students.
The safety commission validated, before the All Saints' Day holidays, the admission of teaching staff to the establishment. The town hall had to urgently move the students to the Sablons school, into unused rooms. The parents were notified the last week of August, a little late for their liking.
“We had big doubts that the school would even be able to open this year”
“We are delighted and relieved,” explains Anne-Sophie, accompanied by her partner Alexis, parents of a child in the small section and representatives of parents of students.
“We had big doubts that the school would even be able to open this year. Passing by it every day, we knew that it was going to be impossible for September, but we are happy that the town hall has done what is necessary for this start of the school year. »
Cohesion maintained
“We made a plan before vacation of All Saints' Day so that parents and children can see the premises, the cafeteria, the courtyard, and make the place their own,” explains Vanessa Hubert, deputy mayor responsible for Education and Early Childhood.
The furniture – which already administratively belonged to the Lucie-Aubrac school – was repatriated by city services during the school holidays. ” There classroom layout is identical here to that in Sablons, so as not to disturb children about this change, especially nursery school children. »
« It's really good for having done that, emphasize Anne-Sophie and Alexis. It maintains cohesion, which means that our child finds the same students and friends. He was very happy this morning. »
“I hope that my boy in the small section will quickly get used to this change. »
Double and triple level classes
The five classes will all have several levels: two with a small and a large section; one with a small and a medium section; one with CP, CM1 and CM 2; one with a large section, CE1 and CE2. “It is a decision of National Education. It is easier for a teacher to have very distant levels, because it allows the work on each group to be separated. »
“It pulls upwards. It's a good thing they're mixed. Afterwards, they are 30 children per classit's still a lot, but that's a general problem at the level of National Education,” points out the parent representative.
In total, 140 students have joined their new school group, an integral part of the Rouget-de-Lisle eco-district. “I live in the neighborhood, it’s great for me. I'm there in less than five minutes. We had to wait a little longer, but I am very happy with this school,” explains the mother of a child in first grade.
Another mother, whose first child is in kindergarten and another in elementary school, praises the quality ofaccess to this school.
“It’s much more secure. The entrance is not on a busy street, I only go through small streets, unlike the temporary school in Sablons. And if it rains, we're covered, and the school is very modern. »
300 students eventually
Ultimately, the school group will be able to accommodate twelve classes kindergarten and elementary school, and nearly 300 students. “It was created to meet the need linked to the development of the Rouget-de-Lisle eco-district,” recalls the City.
To reach this number, work is still underway. In the coming months, the work will focus on the second floor, on the second part of the refectory and the second schoolyard. Everything will be done to limit nuisance.
“These parts will eventually be accessible to businesses, but everything is closed and independent. And if there are any major nuisance interventions, they will be done outside of school hours. »
An eco-responsible building
A wooden envelopea clear, green courtyard, draining rainwater, spacious rooms: the building meets the challenges of the moment. A success for Vanessa Hubert. “It is a passive and eco-responsible building, with a high level of energy performance, with bio-sourced materials. Everything has been designed to use a minimum of heating. The building is self-sufficient, with blinds and eaves to protect against heat and cold. »
Of the solar panels will also be installed within two to three years.
