The arrest of the suspects was carried out by the Niort gendarmerie company, in the Deux-Sèvres department, according to information from The New Republic.
This took place during the night from Friday to Saturday, after the police were warned that hundreds of meters of telephone cables, buried between Melle and Chef-Boutonne, had been stolen.
Two adults and a minor arrested
The Niort company gendarmes were carrying out an alcohol control operation on the roads of the department when they were called for reinforcement. Indeed, a witness alerted the police, explaining that he had seen individuals stealing cables belonging to the telephone network of the distributor Orange.
It was following this report that three people were arrested by the patrolling team. The individuals were arrested while they were in their vehicle, between the villages of Boutonne and Fontivillié, around 1 a.m. Thus, a minor and two adults, residing in the south of the Deux-Sèvres department, were placed in police custody. They were then summoned by the Niort judicial court.
