The weapons information system (SIA) is a digital platform which makes it possible to manage and monitor the legal possession of firearms in the territory and which facilitates the procedures linked to their acquisition and possession. At the end of its deployment, all firearms holders must have a personal SIA account to maintain their right to own weapons. To date, only holders of weapons for hunting or sport shooting are concerned by this measure and are required to have created an account by December 31, 2024 (article 10 of decree 2024-615 of June 27, 2024 carrying various measures in the field of weapons).

This mandatory step must be taken without delay. Indeed, the creation of a personal account in the SIA is obligatory to buy a weapon from the gunsmith, sell it or have it maintained. Beyond this date, hunter holders, former hunters and sport shooters not registered in the SIA will be in contradiction with the weapons regulations and will of course be subject to administrative measures. Creating a personal account in the SIA is simple and quick but requires having access to the internet and having an email address and documents in digital format, in particular to prove your identity and address.
