The German army fortifies, occupies and reuses strategic locations. The need to create a bomb-proof hospital is vital to be able to treat the wounded who cannot be operated on on site. The site, located at the corner of Rue de Trigauville and Rue Henri IV, has housed huge ice cellars since 1848. Ideal for a hospital. Two years of work gave birth to the Hauptverbandsplatz, the main hospital of the German fortress of Le Havre.
