ATP Vienna: injured in the abdominals, Zizou Bergs withdraws

DIn a message posted on Instagram, the Limburger explained that he was withdrawing due to an abdominal injury, but he hopes to return for the Masters 1000 in which will begin on October 28.

The day after his elimination by the American Marcos Giron (ATP 47) in the quarter-finals of the European Open tennis tournament, the ATP 250 tournament in Antwerp, Bergs was to go to the Austrian capital but announced on Instagram that he withdrew due to an abdominal injury.

“Unfortunately, I injured my abdominals during my match yesterday and I have to withdraw from Vienna because of that. It seems like a small tear but I hope to recover in time to participate in the Paris Masters,” he wrote in a story on the social network.

He had to face another player from the United States, Aleksandar Kovacevic (ATP 90), in the first round of qualifying for this tennis tournament played on hard courts and worth 2,470,310 euros.

Friday, when talking about his program after his defeat in Antwerp, Zizou Bergs did not hide his feelings about the difficult pace to follow. “The world of tennis is brutal. It’s a horror. Sleep for an hour, get up, have a coffee, fly out and play… What are we doing here?! I don’t know what my decision will be. I am at the limit,” he then declared at a press conference.
